Trying to have Cheap and Free Weekend Fun…

Hey ladies of H-Town, if you’re in the city this weekend, here are some exciting and different events to explore!

You all know that the summer hang out for the grown and sexy is the Miller Outdoor Theater.  You can take your wine, blankets and chairs to the Hill and see a play put on by some of the best theaters our city has to offer.

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Theater under the Stars will be presenting a classic musical, Little Shop of Horrors.

Grab your girls, family, and your boo and head down on over to the Hill in the Musuem district.  We like to get Chipotle on Shepherd and eat while we watch.  The show starts at 8:15 when it’s not too hot.   Hope to see you there.  Check out the summer schedule here.  There’s events for all interests and ages!

Little Shop of Horrors
July 13 – 18, 8:15 pm
(captioned performance on July 16)

Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of Seymour, a timid and nerdy sales clerk at the seedy Mushnik’s Skid Row Florists, barely in business in lower Manhattan. He achieves fame and fortune after he discovers an exotic plant named Audrey II, a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed. A Greek chorus of hip soul singers narrates the thriller with a score in the 1960s style of rock and roll, doo-wop, and Motown. Audrey’s appetite grows to gigantic proportions as the cast rapidly diminishes.

So that was your free event,  here is the cheap event.

It is hosted by the Houston Roller Derby.  If you saw the movie Whip it with Drew Barrymore and Eve, featuring their derby team, the Hurl Scouts….then you’ll love seeing the fun live at Kicks Indoor Soccer (611 Shepherd) this Saturday night.   Make plans to attend Houston Roller Derby’s July 17 bouts.  Bout 1 features the Brawlers vs. TXRG’s Hustlers and Bout 2 features Bayou City Bosses and the Psych Ward Sirens.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with the first bout kicking off at 7 p.m.

Discount tickets are available online for $12!

Explore new fun…and get outta the house.
